EROSION CONTROL/SWPPP/NOI PREPARATION: HMH prepares the necessary documents for compliance with the State Water Board’s NPDES General Permit for Storm Water Discharges Associated with Construction Activity (General Permit). Our civil engineers and stormwater experts have considerable experience in the preparation of grading and erosion control plans, and are well trained in the design and application of construction-level erosion and sediment control BMPs. This allows us to efficiently produce Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and Notices of Intent (NOIs) for submittal to local agencies and the State Water Board.
LID TREATMENT CONTROL DESIGN: Best Management Practices (BMPs) include a variety of runoff treatment controls to reduce the volume, velocity, and pollutant load of stormwater runoff from a development project site. HMH provides Low Impact Development (LID) solutions that integrate the capture, detention and infiltration of stormwater with exceptional landscape design. In addition to designing runoff treatment controls for development projects, HMH also designs facilities that provide hydromodification management, in conformance with local NPDES Permit requirements.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION: HMH’s stormwater experts provide training and education for clients as well as municipal staff from local jurisdictions through agency and professional association-sponsored workshops, conferences and field tours. Local HMH development projects are used to demonstrate the design and functionality of LID techniques.
NPDES PERMIT COMPLIANCE: HMH is recognized throughout the Bay Area as a leader in NPDES-compliant stormwater management. In addition to project experience in multiple South Bay cities, our on-going participation in such regional agencies as the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP) gives us a broad base of knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board, and local NPDES Permit regulations. HMH is included on lists of Qualified Consultants for the preparation of stormwater documents and conducting 3rd party review and certification statements, maintained by the Bay Area Stormwater Management Agencies Association, the City of San Jose, and SCVURPPP.
STORMWATER PLANS: HMH prepares Stormwater Control Plans and Stormwater Management Plans in conformance with local jurisdictions’ permit application requirements. The Plans are designed to integrate grading and landscape architecture with land planning, to tailor site design, pollutant source and runoff treatment control concepts to the project. All Stormwater Control and Management Plans include numeric sizing calculations, details, and operation and maintenance programs for selected Best Management Practices.
STORMWATER 3RD PARTY CERTIFICATION: Many Bay Area permitting jurisdictions require certification of stormwater management plans by a 3rd party reviewer. HMH is included on the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program’s list of qualified consultants, and provides timely 3rd party review and certification services for large and small private sector clients, as well as for public agencies.
STORMWATER SITE AWARDS: The Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP) annually recognizes public agency and private development community leaders who are solving site design challenges, reducing stormwater pollution and meeting or exceeding the requirements of the Municipal Regional Permit. HMH is honored to have been selected to receive SCVURPPP’s Site Design and Low Impact Development for Storm Water Pollution Prevention Awards for the following projects:
- Modern Ice
- Hampton Park
